If I file an injured spouse allocation form will the IRS cut two separate checks or one check?

If my husband owe child support IRS is suppose to allocate the portion that will belong to me. I want to know is will the IRS cut two checks? Can I efile my federal taxes with form 8379 Injured Spouse Allocation form?If I file an injured spouse allocation form will the IRS cut two separate checks or one check?
It's usually one but can be two in certain situations. Once the IRS figures the allocation of any refund, the injured spouse will receive their refund and the balance will be used against the outstanding debt. If the other spouse's share of the refund is enough to satisfy the debt in full, the remainder will be paid to them, typically in 2 to 4 weeks.

Yes, you can e-file with Form 8379 and it speeds up the process if you do. It will delay any refunds compared to filing separately (or if the 8379 wasn't filed) but that's really a moot point as the goal is to get your share of any refund. If I file an injured spouse allocation form will the IRS cut two separate checks or one check?

the irs will issue only issue one check to you. i know from past years. i had to filed insured spouse to. it takes a really long time. yes you can e-file the 8379 with your return i did.
You can and should efile as it cuts the time in half (from 12 weeks to 6) and you will get your check. The portion that goes to child support goes to them electronically.
