not all border patrol live on the border but many do.
And normally they are stationed in a larger city and work from there.
Cost of living will depend on what city.
What do you like to do for fun, each area is different.
Moving with them, is just like working for someone who is a computer programer, you don't know where they could be transfered.
Goverment jobs have good benifits, health and life and retirement, You do what you like for fun, things are about the same everywhere if you are not in one of the major US cities
